Below are helpful
Pre-Op Instructions for all our surgery patients:
1. Our
surgery scheduler will be in contact with you regarding a day
and time for surgery.
2. Our
insurance personnel will contact your insurance company
regarding any pre-certification.
3. You
may take any heart, blood pressure and seizure medication the
day of surgery with a sip of water.
4. The
hospital’s pre-admission unit will contact you to set-up a day
and time for you to complete any pre-op testing ordered by your
physician and/or anesthesiologist.
5. All
diabetic patients should check with their surgeon’s office nurse
regarding what dosage to take of your medication the day of
surgery.
6. On
the day of surgery, bring a list of medications you are
currently taking.
Unless otherwise
instructed:
Stop taking any
aspirin products 5 days prior to surgery.
Stop taking any
blood thinners, such as coumadin, as directed by your surgeon.
Stop taking any
herbal supplements or herbal medications 2 weeks prior to
surgery.
