  Pre-Op Care

Below are helpful Pre-Op Instructions for all our surgery patients:

1.   Our surgery scheduler will be in contact with you regarding a day and time for surgery.

2.   Our insurance personnel will contact your insurance company regarding any pre-certification.

3.   You may take any heart, blood pressure and seizure medication the day of surgery with a sip of water.

4.   The hospital’s pre-admission unit will contact you to set-up a day and time for you to complete any pre-op testing ordered by your physician and/or anesthesiologist.

5.   All diabetic patients should check with their surgeon’s office nurse regarding what dosage to take of your medication the day of surgery.

6.   On the day of surgery, bring a list of medications you are currently taking.

Unless otherwise instructed:

Stop taking any aspirin products 5 days prior to surgery.

Stop taking any blood thinners, such as coumadin, as directed by your surgeon.

Stop taking any herbal supplements or herbal medications 2 weeks prior to surgery.
